Trip Highlights

Join us as we cycle along the incredible US Eastern Shore, experiencing up-close the abundant wildlife, sprawling scenic vistas, historic lighthouses, majestic Atlantic seascapes and of course, the wild ponies that have roamed these regions for over 300 years. We’ll also visit Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg taking us back to the very birth of the United States, and wrap up the tour with cycling on the incredible Virginia Capital Trail!

Getting Here:  Tour originates at Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). Free return shuttle to BWI included.

Day 1:  Arrive Baltimore

7:00 PM    Orientation at Hotel

If you get to Baltimore early make sure to visit the awesome Inner Harbor!

Day 2:  Blackwater Wildlife Refuge & Underground Railroad National Park

Cycling:    25 Miles

Enjoy gorgeous cycling through the Blackwater Refuge and the Harriett Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park. After a great picnic lunch, we're back on the bikes cycling along quiet country roads, ending with wine tasting at a local vineyard.

Day 3:  Assateague & Chincoteague Islands

Cycling:    25 Miles

This tour begins with cycling on Assateague Island National Park where we experience up close, the wild ponies that make these beautiful beaches their home. But it's not just the ponies who reside here, stay alert for deer, fox and many bird species including American Bald Eagles!

Day  4:  Virginia Beach

Cycling:   20 Miles

More scenic cycling is on tap as we cycle beautiful Virginia Beach. Our ride will take us to First Landing State Park, where British Colonists first set foot. From there its on to the twin lighthouses that stand guard at Chesapeake Bay before continuing on to the famous VB boardwalk where the giant statue of Neptune is waiting to greet you.

Cycle Outer Banks

Day 5:  Kitty Hawk to Rodanthe

Cycling:    Up to 43 Miles

We begin just outside of Kitty Hawk where we’ll stop to visit the Wright Brothers National Monument, then its on to Roanoke Island for a great lunch and gorgeous views before ending at the Bodie Island Lighthouse. We spend the rest of the day on the beach enjoying our fantastic oceanside lodging.

Cycling:    25 Miles

Today we begin our cycling from the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and we’ll cycle back to Rodanthe, just 25 easy, but beautiful miles, allowing the rest of the day for chillin’ on the beach. In the evening we'll gather for a traditional clambake on the beach!

Day 7:  Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg

Cycling:    10 Miles

Today is a full day of exploration taking in both Jamestown, the first American settlement, and incredible Colonial Williamsburg, both taking us back in time to the very birth of the United States.

Day 8:  Virginia Capital Trail to Richmond

Cycling:    Up to 52 Miles

We start out at Jamestown and cycle the awesome Virginia Capital Trail all the way to Richmond. The cycling is spectacular as is the scenery along this gorgeous, all paved trail! We spend our final night in Richmond with fantastic nightlife and dining options.

Day 9:  Return to BWI

8:30 AM Shuttle return to BWI

After an amazing tour we return to BWI. Estimated arrival time 11:00 AM.
