Day 1:  Transport to Wytheville & Trip Orientation

We pick up all guests at Dulles Airport for shuttle to Wytheville VA. After settling in to our hotel, we’ll regroup for a brief trip orientation. You’ll then have the remainder of the evening to grab dinner and explore the charming town.

Day 2:  Virginia Creeper Trail (34 miles)

After a lovely evening in Wytheville we set off this morning to cycle the famous Virginia Creeper which has been brilliantly restored after the upper 16 miles of the trail was destroyed by Hurricane Helene in September 2024. The “Creeper” gets its name from the Railway that had to climb the steep grade from Damascus to Whitetop. And while most railway grades vary from 1 to 3 percent, the upper end of the Creeper has grades of 5% plus, causing the steam engine to travel at very low speeds. But don’t be worried about the 5% grade, we’ll be cycling downhill, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way!

Day 3: New River Trail (46 miles)

Nestled in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Highlands, the New River Trail State Park offers 57 miles of lush green canopy.  The gentle grade and perfect stone-dust surface make the New River Trail a joy to cycle, and its proximity to the New River, (which is actually one of the world’s oldest rivers, geologically speaking), provides gorgeous scenery and the opportunity to cool off with an invigorating plunge.

Day 4: High Bridge Trail (32 miles)

The High Bridge Trail is unique in that the entire 31-mile trail is a state park, with the centerpiece being, of course, the High Bridge. At over 2,400' feet long, and rising 125 feet above the Appomattox River, the majestic High Bridge is among the longest in the nation. Built in 1853, the bridge is also a Virginia Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.

Day 5: Virginia Capital Trail (40 miles)

The Virginia Capital Trail transports you through time as it travels nearly 52 miles between the state’s first capital at the Jamestown Settlement, and the current capital city of Richmond, traversing lands first inhabited by the Powhatan, Chickahominy, and other Native Americans. The smooth, paved trail follows the scenic James River with outstanding views and access to many historic sites. The trail ends in Jamestown where you’ll have a chance to explore before continuing on to Colonial Williamsburg and our lodging for the next 2 nights.

Day 6: Colonial Williamsburg & Jamestown Exploration (20 Miles)

The Colonial Parkway connects the historic triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. In the morning you can join our team for an optional guided bike tour around Colonial Williamsburg, then along the Parkway to Jamestown. At Jamestown you can opt to spend time exploring the museum, which has both indoor and outdoor exhibits and is well worth a 2-3 hour visit. Or, if you prefer, spend the day sightseeing on your own.

After a fun day immersed in history we’ll shuttle all guests back to Dulles Airport.
